“As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God.”

Psalm 42:1

My husband built the feeders for the birds – thinking of the doves and cardinals that would rather be on a flat surface instead of hanging on a swinging feeder.  But the deer and squirrels find them most convenient.

The deer over to the far right is lame.  We are not sure what happened to it, but one leg hangs loosely, unable to hold weight.  The joint looks as if it was either shot or attacked by an animal.

If you look closely, you can see one of my cats’ reflections in the glass as she watches the visitors intently.

    • Yes, we do Patti. We counted 12 deer one night a few weeks ago. They started out with just two or three and as we watched, they arrived one by one until there were 12 outside wandering between our lawn and the neighbor’s. Only problem was, I had used up my film for my Minolta and it was too dark for the digital so I couldn’t get any pictures. We love watching them, but they eat everything out there and don’t leave anything for the birds. 😉

  1. I saw your post at the help forum, so came to see your site. We are a birding family and do a bit of feeding. Seasons are changing, so the food being set out is changing. I pulled out a hummingbird feeder to later fill. It’s early, but we saw our first warbler in the yard yesterday, so the hummingbirds can’t be far behind. We do not see many deer, though. We’re out in the open and only see some passing through.

I am always blessed to find other Christians who enjoy God’s creation. There are not many out there, it seems.
